Sigma Counseling Services

Dallas Sigma Counseling Services held a training workshop the past Wednesday, June 29th, to help volunteers and staffs understand our clients and improve the overall quality of the Sigma Saturday Program. Along with Daniel Jung, CEO of Dallas Sigma Counseling Services, and Jenny Lee, a Counseling Manager, 21 staffs and volunteers participated in the workshop. After the greeting of Sunyoung (Anna) Lee, the Director of the Sigma Saturday Program, Seungkyung (Sue) Kang introduced her class, music therapy, and talked about the progress of each individual client using graphs based on clients' creativity, motor skill and social skill. Daniel Jung followed, lecturing about the definitions of mental and developmental disabilities, and then Jenny Lee asked questions to volunteers and staffs about clients and also provided an opportunity for understanding each client’s disabilities and learning how to approach each client. Lastly, Hyekyung (Helen) Han, executive staff, addressed the responsibilities and duties of volunteers along with the meaning of volunteering.
